- Between a hob and a tall unit there should be a 300mm gap (You don’t want the tall unit to go on fire!!)
- You should avoid putting drawer packs or drawerline units in corners - they might not open fully, the handle might catch.
- Try and leave a gap between a hood and a wall unit, it makes it easier to clean the hood and looks better.
- Leave a small gap to allow for if the walls that aren’t exactly straight. The gap can be filled with a filler panel made from plinth.
- If planning a new build kitchen, or a kitchen that is about to be plastered, remember that the dimensions you originally take will be different after plastering, leave a gap of approx 50mm when planning to allow for this.
- Don’t put a hob under a window, not only will it steam it, the curtains could catch on fire but the draft will blow the flames and it couldn’t have a hood above to extract the hot air away.
